What is meditation ? How do you do it and how does it change your life ?
Meditation ;
"Being the 7th limb of Yoga, meditation is a form of deep concentration of the mind. Of course focusing on positive rather than negative is beneficial in everyday life. The first goal is calming the mind and it's focus. The more we let the mind ramble on a regular basis, the harder it is for it to focus. The more we practice meditation and mindfulness, the easier it is for the mind to stay focused on something for long periods of time. In order for the mind to "focus" we must first practice the 5th and 6th limbs of yoga ( withdrawal of the senses and intense concentration).
Meditation in silence - Buddhists traditions are most known for practicing meditation in silence and stillness with a goal of completely emptying their mind.
Sound Healing Meditation - Sound healing with Tibetan or crystal singing bowls is a long lasting tradition in Hindu and Buddhist temples and schools. Besides healing the body and mind with sound, the harmonious melodies of singing bowls also provide a great focal point for the mind, while helping achieve a state of deep relaxation and meditation.
Creative Visualizations - Meditations that are guided by a teacher or your own internal voice, that paint an image and have a goal of inviting something positive into the mind or life. One can use visualizations to positively impact life, from setting a positive intention everyday, to send positive energy to the future events and achieve goals.
Mantra - One of the most traditional, oldest and effective types of meditation. Mantra in theory is any idea or saying that we repeat. In traditional yoga, mantras are positive words that are repeated in a meditative way to achieve certain goals. Mantras liberate and protect our mind. They are generally very effective for those looking to perform mantra meditation for spiritual benefits and liberation."
NOW I WANT YOU TO PRACTICE...
Close your eyes, take a deep breath, focus on the air flowing through your right nostril, then your left nostril, focus on that breathe coming into your body and making its way down and through your body. Focus on that breath reaching your lungs, your heart, your liver, your kidneys, your stomach, your intestines, reaching all your muscle tissues, reaching your last toe nerve endings. Focus on that breath, making its way back up your body, finally exiting through your mouth.
Repeat this exercise several times with your eyes closed, each time noticing more and more detail about your breath and how you feel.
You just MEDITATED .
